    How to write Etsy titles and tags that get found

    Etsy titles can be up to 140 characters, and every listing can have up to 13 tags of up to 20 characters each. Etsy recommends clear, readable titles that describe what the item is — not long lists of repeated keywords.

    • Put the most important words first. Buyers often see only the start of your title in search results and on mobile.
    • Use all 13 tags. Each empty tag slot is a missed chance to be found.
    • Use multi-word phrases. “vintage christmas png” matches more real searches than “vintage”, “christmas” and “png” on their own.
    • Don't repeat yourself. Repeating the same word many times in a title doesn't help and makes it harder to read.
    • Cover different ways people search. Think about style, occasion, use (junk journal, sublimation, card making) and format (PNG, SVG, printable).

    Etsy also limits some characters: the symbols %, :, & and + can each be used only once in a title, and only a few words can be in ALL CAPS. Tags accept letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens and apostrophes.
