How to calculate your Etsy fees

Etsy fees explained

What fees does Etsy charge per sale?

Every Etsy sale is made up of several small fees. Here is what this calculator includes:

  • Listing fee — $0.20. Charged when you publish a listing and again each time it renews (every four months or after a sale). It is billed in US dollars, so the amount in pounds or euros moves with the exchange rate.
  • Transaction fee — 6.5% of the total order: item price, shipping and gift wrap.
  • Payment processing fee — depends on your country. For example 3% + $0.25 in the US, 4% + £0.20 in the UK and 4% + €0.30 in most EU countries.
  • Offsite Ads — 15% or 12%, only on sales that come from Etsy's ads on other websites. Shops over $10,000 a year pay 12% and can't opt out.
  • Regulatory operating fee — a small percentage charged to sellers in some countries such as the UK, France, Italy and Spain.
  • VAT or tax on Etsy's fees — sellers in the UK, EU and many other countries pay tax on top of Etsy's fees.
  • Currency conversion — 2.5% if your listing currency differs from your bank account currency.

Pricing digital downloads

Digital products have no shipping or material costs, but the fixed parts of the fees — the listing fee and the fixed processing fee — take a much bigger share of a cheap download. On a £2 printable, fixed fees alone can be more than 15% of the price. Use the profit I want per sale box to find a price that still works after fees. Bundling several designs together is often the easiest way to raise your order value.

How much does Etsy take per sale?

Etsy takes a 6.5% transaction fee on the order total, a payment processing fee that depends on your country (for example 4% + £0.20 in the UK or 3% + $0.25 in the US), a $0.20 listing fee, and in some cases Offsite Ads, a regulatory operating fee and tax on its fees.

Is the $0.20 listing fee charged on every sale?

The listing fee is charged when you publish a listing and each time it renews. When an item sells and auto-renews, you pay another $0.20 — so it effectively applies to each sale.

Do I pay VAT on Etsy fees?

Sellers in the UK, EU and several other countries are charged VAT or a similar tax on Etsy's fees. Turn the VAT option off if it doesn't apply to you.

Are the fee rates accurate?

The presets match Etsy's published rates as of October 2026. Etsy can change its fees at any time, so check your Etsy Payments account and edit the rates under Advanced if needed.

Does this calculator work for digital downloads?

Yes. Choose Digital to hide shipping fields. Digital sellers usually only need the item price and any cost per sale.
